Blue Mountains Elk Initiative
Established in 1990, the Blue Mountains Elk Initiative is the first and longest-running elk initiative in the country.
Over the past 35 years, the BMEI has leveraged over $21 million dollars and completed more than 500,000 acres of habitat improvement across the Blue Mountains.
About the BMEI
The BMEI is a cooperative effort between Federal, State, private landowners and industries,Tribal Nations, The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, sportsman and conservation organizations, and many other dedicated partners with mutual goals of improving habitat for elk and other wildlife across the Blue Mountains of Oregon and Washington.
