Funding & Grant Opportunities
A Request for Proposals (RFP) is emailed annually to agency/organization personnel that are planning activities within the BMEI landscape. The grant period is open annually from October 1 to December 1.
Highly competitive projects are those that; increase or reinforce elk security habitat, improve forage distribution in areas of secure habitat, and improve habitat connectivity between priority areas.

How the BMEI Grant Process works:
All grant applications associated with the BMEI Landscape, that will be submitted to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) Grant Portal, Must Be Submitted Through the BMEI Grant Process First.
Proposal will be reviewed and ranked by the BMEI Operations Committee.
Projects selected for funding will first receive BMEI funds available through a variety of partners.
The list of projects selected for funding will be forwarded to RMEF with recommendations for funding. These projects carry a higher priority for funding by RMEF, as they are already being supported by existing BMEI partner funds, and have thoroughly been vetted.
The status of proposal and recommendation for RMEF funding will be sent to the grantee; direction will be given at that time to input project proposal to the RMEF Grant Portal.
